NOTCOT.ORG

Just a quick post this morning to tell you about one of my favourite web-based collaborations. User-Generated Content (UGC) as it’s known in the business can produce some of the richest content of all.

UGC generally invites people to submit their own stories, pictures, comments etc. to a central location for the world to see. It’s a bit of a socialist notion, but the web is generally quite socialist in its approach anyway.

To cut to the  chase, one of my favourite UGC sites is NOTCOT.ORG. It’s where anyone can create an account and start submitting awesome links and pics of cool stuff from design to travel to food to just about anything.

The submissions get vetted and if you’re lucky you’ll see your link up in lights on the NOTCOT.ORG homepage.

It’s a cool feeling when you see something you’ve submitted go up on the site, and it’s got a huge following, which is a bonus. Although a space on the homepage my be fleeting, all the submissions are archived which means you can trace it back since it began.

I love this because it’s the ultimate form of mass collaboration – bringing together countless creative pursuits, products and creations in one magical place. Go over and check it out, inspiration awaits.
